Here's our Newcastle vs Chelsea Prediction analysis: Newcastle vs Chelsea PredictionNewcastle vs Chelsea Prediction and Preview for Saturday's EPL fixture. London club, Chelsea will be looking to pull clear of the chasing pack in the race for Champions League qualification, when they visit St James’ Park to take on Newcastle.
Match status: 2019/20 Premier League - Matchweek 23
Kick-off:
Venue: St. James Park (Newcastle)
Chelsea boss and legend, Frank Lampard has enjoyed a dream start to life at the helm of the job. The Blues have been performing well in the English Premier League, have qualified for the Champions League knockout round and are on course to make it to the quarter-final of the F.A cup. They are currently placed fourth on the league table, with 39 points from 22 games, five points ahead of fifth-placed Man United and will be desperate to maintain that lead.

Newcastle, meanwhile face another challenging opponent in Chelsea as their tough run of fixtures continues. In the past four league matches, they have faced Wolves, Man United, Leicester City and Everton. The Magpies have enjoyed a decent start to the season, and are firmly rooted mid-table. Head coach, Rafa Benitez will be desperate to get a result here and pull further clear of the relegation zone.

Newcastle vs Chelsea Team News

Last time out, Newcastle had to settle for a 1-1 draw against a tough Wolves side. In-form Paraguayan winger, Miguel Almiron put the Magpies ahead in the seventh minute, but Wolves hit back almost immediately via a Leander Dendocker goal. Newcastle were kept in the game via a series of good saves by goalie Martin Dubravka and held on for a share of the spoils.

Newcastle have struggled for consistency at times this season and they are currently on a bad run. They have won just one of their last five league matches and were forced to an F.A cup replay by league one side, Rochdale.

The Magpies have been uninspiring in front of goal, with their 21 goals so far, the second-worst record in the league. They have also been terrible at the back. Goalkeeper, Martin Dubravka, despite his best efforts, has let in 34 goals this season and could do with better protection in front of him.

Newcastle have made the St James’ Park a fortress and are unbeaten in ten of their last twelve encounters at home, and have lost at home just three times this season.

Chelsea put on a completely dominant display in their 3-0 thrashing of Burnley in their last Premier League fixture with a Jorginho penalty goal, Tammy Abraham’s header and Hudson-Odoi’s first-ever Premier League goal enough to seal a comfortable win. The Blues have now won three of their last five league matches and are undefeated in three.

Lampard’s men seem to have no trouble finding the back of the net, and led by young England forward, Tammy Abraham have scored 39 goals in the league this season. They have also managed to keep it considerably tight at the back, although the 29 goals conceded so far is a stat that could and should be improved upon.

Chelsea’s inability to keep a clean sheet on the road is well documented. They have conceded at least, once in 18 of their last 20 matches away from home. It is also worth noting that, The Blues have failed to come away with a clean sheet from The St James’ Park in the last nine years. That is one stat they would be looking to correct this weekend.

Newcastle vs Chelsea Predictions

Newcastle are a tough nut to crack at home and Chelsea would be up against it here. The Blues, for all their attacking prowess, are inconsistent at the back; therefore, you can expect goals from both sides. However, Lampard’s men are the in-form team here, hence you can expect them to nick a narrow win in a tightly contested affair.
