Liverpool are reeling with confidence coming into this fixture, fresh from a 2-1 comeback win over London rivals Tottenham and unbeaten domestically. Everything is excellent for Jurgen Klopp’s side with a 6 point cushion on top of the league standings.

With their current form, a treble is in the offing and the Reds will want to write history. They will be looking to match or even better last season’s heroics of Manchester City who claimed a domestic treble. A compact defence and fluid movements in the middle complemented by a final third boasting the dreaded attacking trio of Sadio, Firmino and Salah, Liverpool has become one of the best sides in Europe at the moment.

Arsenal are a contrast of the current league leaders as they gave away a two-goal lead to share points with Crystal Palace over the weekend. The Gunners camp is a bit rocky on and off the field. After an underwhelming performance against Palace preceded by a lucky 3-2 win over Guimares in the Europa League, Unai Emery is coming under constant criticism and increasing pressure from the club faithful.

That notwithstanding, the club’s hierarchy was on Monday contemplating stripping Granit Xhaka off the captain’s armband after the Swiss showed dissent towards home fans by walking out of the pitch at Emirates. Things are not so rosy at the club and should this play out on the pitch, Arsenal could be headed to another disappointing season.

For Liverpool, phenomenal defender Virgil Van Djik is likely to miss this clash after suffering a dead leg on Sunday against Spurs while forward Mo Salah suffered a knock in the same match and will likely be rested. Joel Matip is also doubtful with a knee injury. Xherdan Shaqiri and Nathaniel Clyne remain sidelined.

With the Gunners, Keiran Tierney is doubtful with an illness. Forward Reiss Nelson is set to sit this one out too.
