Last time out in Serie A, AS Roma were held to an intriguing 3-3 draw by league leaders, AC Milan, in an action-packed encounter, with the Giallorossi showing their famed resilience to thrice come back from behind to nick a point.Roma fell behind to an early Zlatan Ibrahimovic penalty, but were soon back on level terms, thanks to an Edin Dzeko goal. However, for all their attacking prowess, Roma are quite vulnerable in defence, and this is evidenced by the fact that they’ve conceded ten goals in the league already this season.
Fiorentina, on the other hand, recorded an impressive 3-2 victory over Udinese in their last Serie A outing to stem a miserable run of results. La Viola went ahead via goals from Gaetano Castrovilli, and Nikola Milenkovic, but were soon pegged back by a Stefano Okaka strike.
However, Gaetano Castrovilli’s second goal of the game, early in the second half extinguished all hopes of a comeback for Udinese, and ensured that Okaka’s goal late in the game would prove to be nothing more than consolation.
That win was La Viola’s first in four league games, having lost two and drawn one of the previous three. Fiorentina are now up to tenth on the standings, with seven points from five games, and are only just one point behind Roma, who are above them in ninth – guess we could call this a mid-table clash.
Fiorentina’s struggles in Serie A this term have been characterised by their poor record on the road, and travelling to face a Roma side that is yet to taste defeat at home this term, this bad form only looks set to continue.
