Having lost in their first two outings, PSG will be desperate to get finally kickstart their league campaign as they take on Metz, who are suffering a similarly slow start to the season.

With them participating in the Champions League final a little over three weeks ago, and missing key players to injury, PSG will be wishing they had been given more time to rest and prepare for the new season.

However, all that is now water under the bridge, and Thomas Tuchel must immediately get his house in order, if PSG are to win their eighth league title in nine years.

Last time out in Ligue 1, PSG fell to a 0-1 to lifetime rivals in a mass brawl match, consequently seeing five players sent off. Marseille took the lead late in the first half via a Florian Thauvin strike, and were able to successfully repel everything PSG threw at them in search of an equalizer.

That defeat means PSG have failed to picked up a point from their two opening fixtures, and they currently languish in the bottom half of the table.

A damning indicator of PSG’s struggles this season, is a fact that they have failed to score in each of their opening fixtures, including against newcomers, RC Lens. However, last time out in Paris, PSG thrashed Metz 5-0, and they have also not lost to the visitors in their last nine encounters.

Metz, like PSG, succumbed to a second successive defeat in Ligue 1, following a narrow 0-1 defeat away to high-flyers, Lille.

Les Grenats, currently placed 17^th on the league standings, held Lille for majority of the match, before succumbing to an 88^th minute strike from substitute, Luiz Araujo. Vincent Hognon’s side finished 15^th in the league last season, and they have to start getting results, if they’re to stay up for another season.

Having struggled for most parts of last season, Metz have continued with their poor form, losing their two opening matches.
To be fair to Vincent Hognon’s side though, they have come up against two of the league’s big boys – Lille and Monaco – in both fixtures, and impressively, managed to keep the score line decent on both occasions.

And the odds are firmly stacked against them, as they travel to Parc des Princes, where they’ve not won since 2006, to take on a wounded PSG side.
