Here's our Switzerland vs Germany Prediction analysis: Two sides still yet to taste victory in this year’s edition of the UEFA Nations League will tackle one another for maximum points when Switzerland and Germany lock horns at St. Jakob-Park on Sunday evening.
Match status: 2020 UEFA Nations League
Kick-off:
Venue: St. Jakob-Park (Basel)
Without a doubt, Germany are one of the favorites to reach the latter stages of the competition. Since lifting the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the Germans have failed to add any piece of silverware to their trophy cabinet. You bet that cabinet will be pretty dusty at the moment.

Having failed to pick up all three points from their opening fixture, Joachim Low’s men will be gunning for nothing but victory here, to get their campaign up and running. With everything going according to plan, Die Mannschaft should dispatch the Swiss easily come fulltime.

Switzerland vs Germany Team News

Switzerland will be disappointed with their start to the Nations League campaign, failing to pick up a single point from their opening fixture. Vladmir Petkovic will be unleashing some inspiring pep-talk to his players to get them motivated ahead of the coming fixtures.

Handed a pretty favorable fixture against Ukraine last time out, the Red Crosses were required to put on a strong show to stand any real winning chances. Huffing and puffing for large parts of the game, the Swiss struggled to match the opposition’s fire-power.

Petkovic’s men failed to cope with Ukraine’s early onslaught as they were pegged back in their own half for the first couple of minutes. Andriy Yarmolenko’s cheeky backheel flick sent the Yellow and Blue ahead just inside 14 minutes.

Following their disastrous start, Nati responded well to going behind. Haris Seferovic unleashed a cracking ball into the net to send Switzerland level just before halftime. That goal must have made Petkovic’s second-half speech much easier.

However, the Swiss’ hearts were broken in the second-half as Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko curled a beautiful ball past Sommer to send Petkovic’s men sinking. Now rooted to the bottom of Group A4, the Red Crosses are in dire need of points to revive their faltering campaign.

Losing their most winnable game of the group stage must have hurt Switzerland badly. However, for a side that shocked Europe to reach the semifinals of the inaugural UEFA Nations League, the sky is the limit. Nati cannot be written off just yet.

Meanwhile, Germany are also on the look-out for their first win of the tournament having fallen to a one-all draw against Spain last time out. They had been on the verge of victory before Spain’s Jose Gaya produced absolute scenes with a 95th-minute equalizer.

Timo Werner was the cream of the crop for DFB Eleven, constantly troubling Spain’s defense, and grabbing a goal to cap a wonderful performance. Even though Germany are missing a host of Bayern Munich stars, Joachim Low still has some quality players to call upon.

Germany and Switzerland last played together in a 2012 friendly fixture, the Swiss celebrating a thrilling 5-3 victory on that occasion. Petkovic’s men will be hoping for a repeat come Sunday.

Switzerland vs Germany Predictions

Germany were on fire in their last game against Spain. Had it not been for a spirited performance from David de Gea in goal, Die Mannschaft would have strolled to success. Against a pretty weak Switzerland side, count on Germany to post all three points on the board.
