Here's our Nimes vs Brest Prediction analysis: Nimes vs Brest PredictionHaving narrowly escaped relegation from the top division, Nimes will be looking to have a better time in the league this time around, and they kick off the new season by playing host to Brest in a Ligue 1 match billed to hold at Stade des Costieres.
Match status: 2020/21 Ligue 1 - Matchweek 1
Kick-off:
Venue: Stade des Costières (Nîmes)
Nimes were, perhaps, saved from falling into the lower echelons of French football by the early closure of the league as they were placed eighteenth on the standings, and getting prepared to engage in a relegation scrap.

Having enjoyed a happy return to the top-flight in the 2018/2019, finishing ninth on the table, Les Crocodiles faced a harsh return to reality, and spent the greater part of the recently concluded season struggling to maintain their top flight status.

Interesting times lie ahead for new Nimes manager, Jerome Arpinon, who has his work cut out for him, and will surely be desperate to avoid a repeat of last season’s dire situation, even if it means his side will have to replicate the form that saw them finish ninth two seasons ago.

Brest survived their first season back in Ligue 1 after a six-year hiatus, and will be looking to build on a fourteenth-place finish to secure another year of top-flight football. The Pirates showed some pretty decent form last season, and will be looking to build on a solid pre-season outing to achieve great things as the new Ligue 1 term commences.

Nimes vs Brest Team News

Nimes, for all their woes last season, are a team capable of some decent football, and they showed some flashes of the newly-promoted side that finished ninth two seasons ago, in the last league campaign.

Nevertheless, an eighteenth place finish is no good, and must definitely be improved on if Nimes are to maintain their top-flight status for another season.

Part of the saving grace for Nimes last season was their decent home record, with Les Crocodiles securing all, but one of their seven league victories in the last campaign, at the Stade des Costieres.

Arpinon’s side also have to improve on a defence that shipped in forty-four goals last season, which was the joint fourth worst record in Ligue 1.
Brest on the other hand, can be satisfied with their performances in their first season back from relegation, having secured top flight status for another season by finishing fourteenth on the log.

Subsequently, The Pirates will be looking to build on those performances to propel themselves further up the table and cement themselves as one of Ligue 1’s regular sides. And if their pre-season displays are anything to judge by, then they are quite capable of being one of such sides.

Also, it is worth noting that the last meeting between both sides ended in a comprehensive 3-0 victory for Nimes, and the home side has come out victorious in each of the last four outings between both teams.

Nimes vs Brest Predictions

Brest’s struggles on the road are well documented, and coming up against a Nimes side that tend to put on a show on their home ground, it’s hard to look past the hosts for a win in this encounter. Both sides will also be looking to exploit defensive frailties, hence you can expect to witness a couple of goals.
