With Bayern Munich having turned into serial Bundesliga winners over the years, their current league position seems pretty abysmal. RB Leipzig are really giving the Bavarians a run for their money.

Sitting atop the standings, the Red Bulls have taken the German league by storm and look well on-course for an unlikely league success. Manager Julian Nagelsmann has been receiving lots of plaudits from the media for his team’s exploits and quite rightly so.

With a game against fellow title challengers Borussia Monchengladbach on the cards, the home side need to put in a good shift to have any chances of nicking a victory from this fixture.

Heading to the Commerzbank-Arena, billed as overwhelming favorites for the win, RB Leipzig were dealt a major blow against Eintracht Frankfurt. The home side showed resilience as they held on for a comfortable 2-0 victory against Nagelsmann’s men.

Monchengladbach, on the other hand, marked their first home game of the New Year with an entertaining 3-1 win over 1. FSV Mainz 05 as an Alassane Plea brace and Florian Neuhaus’ wonder-strike ensured a come-from-behind victory for Marco Rose’s men.

Back home, back to winning ways for Gladbach as they’ve got their 12th victory of the season following a defeat and a draw on their travels. The Foals, currently at 3rd, aren’t giving up on their title dream just yet since their next rivals are just two points off of them.

Marco Rose’s men have a chance to rob Leipzig of their place at the top but that might be a tough ask for The Prussians away from Borussia-Park as they’ve been pretty much hit or miss on the road; four wins, a draw and four defeats, with the latest one coming two weeks ago at Gelsenkirchen.
