Fresh from a disappointing midweek loss to FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League which relegated them to Europa League football for the rest of the campaign, Inter Milan will be looking to return to winning ways away against a beleaguered Fiorentina side. Free-falling Fiorentina are on a bad streak of their own, failing to win in any of their last five matches.

Following a disappointing 2018/2019 campaign which saw Fiorentina finish in 16^th position, there has been little in terms of improvement as they are currently placed 13^th in the league, winning just 4 of their 15 league outings. Last time out, Fiorentina capitulated at home, losing 1-2 to Torino, only managing to score a consolation goal in stoppage time. That disappointing loss in front of the home support saw them extend their losing streak to four games on the trot.

Vincenzo Montella’s job is currently on the line as the club’s hierarchy are already in the market for a possible replacement for the manager. He has somehow survived the sack, despite his side’s horrific displays against Leece and now, Torino.

However, the bookmakers are already tipping the manager to get the axe, if he fails to secure a point, at the least, against table-toppers Inter Milan. To be fair to Montella, it is a difficult ask of him to steal points away from the Nerazzurri, given the sheer talent within their ranks.

The home side currently occupy 13^th spot on the standings, having recorded two wins, two draws and three defeats at Artemio Franchi this season, averaging roughly 1.14 goals per game whilst allowing 1.29 goals at the other end of the pitch. They are currently on a three-game winless run on this ground.

Inter Milan, on the other hand, fell to a disappointing defeat in their midweek Champions League clash against Barcelona, essentially condemning them to Europa League football for the rest of the campaign.
