The Villans fought promotion off from Derby County in the play-off final after finishing 5th before making it to Wembley Stadium on the last day of the season.

The Claret & Blue Army's first promotion to the top-flight since 1989 has been followed by a spending spree of over £100m and a substantial clearance of the squad. This may be a good thing for the newly-promoted force but at least six changes are expected in their Premier League opener at Tottenham, an opponent you would normally come to at your strongest.

Spurs had an unprecedented, impressive run to the Champions League final last season but, as it often happens, struggled to endure the pressure and intensity coming from playing on two fronts. Consequently, they had rapidly dropped to 4th in the league. Closing the top-3 of the pack for most of the season, Spurs under Pochettino finished within a single point of Chelsea in third.

There are good omens for Tottenham for this campaign though; the first will see the North Londoners spend a full season at the new Tottenham Stadium without having its natives use temporary territory, and the second is that Tottenham has been busy at the market as they have signed big players since the winter of 2018.

Do we see Villa get a rеsult here? That will hardly be the ideal start for the visitors from Birmingham because there could be misunderstandings among newcomers at Villa, so they are not expected to go flying in the Premier League and will have to adapt and gain pace. Meanwhile, Spurs winning the first game of the season looks a reliable option.
