Copa America: Fierce quarter-final ends in Chile win on penalties

The third quarter-final tie at the Copa America 2019 has finished.

La Tricolor and La Roja could not find ways to breach each other's defence, although two goals were called off after a VAR review. The post-match penalties were required to sort out who's going through.

Colombia 0 Chile 0 (FT)

Colombia (4-3-3): Ospina; Medina, Mina, Sanchez, Tesillo; Cuadrado, Barrios, Uribe (Cardona, 67'); Rodriguez, Falcao (Zapata, 77'), Martinez (Luis Diaz, 81').

Chile (4-3-3): Arias; Isla, Medel, Maripan, Beausejour; Vidal, Pulgar, Aranguiz; Fuenzalida (Pavez, 75'), Vargas, Sanchez.

Booked: Medina, Cuadrado, Rodriguez - Aranguiz, Vidal.

The teams were taking penalties unmistakably until Colombia's William Tesillo sent the ball wide of the left post, before Alexis Sanchez got the job done for the reigning champions and saw them join Brazil and Argentina in the semi-finals.

Chile will meet one of the pair Uruguay vs Peru on July 4th, 00:30 GMT.
