Fernando Torres announced retirement from football
Spanish striker Fernando Torres - former Liverpool, Chelsea, Milan and Atletico Madrid player - who is currently 35 years old, recorded a video for Twitter to say he has retired after pleasing all of us for 18 long years of professional football.
The Spaniard won one World Cup (2012), two European Championships (2008, 2012) and Euro U19 (2002) with Spain, a Champions League trophy in 2012 with Chelsea and two Europa League cups (2013 with Chelsea, 2018 with Atletico Madrid). When playing in England for Liverpool, Torres helped Liverpool win the 2012 EFL Cup.
During his 18 years in football, starting his career in Spain where he joined the local club Atletico Madrid in 2001, he has scored 236 goals in 681 competitive football matches both on international or club level - including those scored for Japan's Sagan Tosu, the club he is at for the time being.
