Lionel Messi makes new notch as Argentine surpass Muller's record
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has broken Gerd Muller's long-standing mark of 365 league goals for the same club - Bayern Munich - in Europe's five top-flights when the Argentine curled his 366th goal from a free kick against Real Sociedad on Sunday to beat the German's record.

Messi levelled Muller's most league goals haul of 365 strikes for Bayern Munich, whom he represented in the period between 1964 and 1979, when the Barca prolific goalscorer scored in Levante's hammering 3-0 at home last weekend - on his 400th club appearance - and then added the famous trademark free-kick shot that saw him overtake the German striker's haul.

This record-breaking season has thus far been quite successful for Messi and Barcelona on the whole as the Argentine has already netted 16 goals plus eight assists with his club sitting firm at the top the La Liga table.

The Catalan club have yet to suffer a defeat this campaign, while surging to the peak of the Spanish Division summit as they are nine points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid and, not less importantly, above eternal rivals Real Madrid, having fallen to the biggest league loss of 3-0 to Barca so far, with 19 points.
