Man City 3-1 Watford: Citizens breeze through Watford to stay top
Pep Guardiola's team ensured to save their 15-points breakaway at the top of the Premier league table with another - 20th - victory against a side who have well been backed for taking a Europa League spot after their excellent start to the campaign.

How the teams lined up:

Manchester City: Ederson - Kyle Walker, John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi, Fabian Delph - Kevin De Bruyne, Fernandinho, David Silva - Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling (4-3-3 formation)

Watford: Heurelho Gomes - Daryl Janmaat, Molla Wague, Christian Kabasele, Marvin Zeegelaar - Ben Watson, Etienne Capoue - Richarlison, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Andre Carrillo - Andre Gray (4-2-3-1 formation)

How it developed:

It took Guardiola's side 39 seconds to open the scoring at Etihad - Rahim Sterling getting on the end of Sane's well-weighted cross at the far post to easily tap home - which set the beginning to a long night for the Hornets.

Shortly after that quick opening goal, it grew to 2-0 as Kabasele scored an own goal, directing in a De Bruyne cross from the right, to make sure Aguero didn't get it first, before Kevin de Bruyne himself could have scored another had his free-kick shot not hit the woodwork.

It all went from bad to worse for Watford - who had made only three attempts 27 minutes from time - when Aguero altered the scored to a mauling of 3-0.

Marco Silva's force pulled one back through Andre Grey tapping in an easily delivered cross from Andre Carillo with eight minutes to go.
