30 June, 2016 at 21.00CET France will host the first quarter final match between the national teams of Poland vs. Portugal. The clash will take place at "Velodrome", in Marseille.

EURO 2016: In the eve of Poland's fixture vs. Portugal

This encounter is going to become the first one for Poland team at such the quarter finals phase which has already been going down in history. Poles, as expected, surely manage to qualify from the group stage to the playoffs and their first opponent was assigned Switzerland national team. That game turned out quite difficult and exhausting for Adam Nawalka's men despite the fact that the first half went well for The White Eagles, even opened the score by means of Jakub Blaszczykowski's goal. However, in the second one something went wrong and the Swiss took possession, shooting more and more on Lukasz Fabianski's goal. The Polish goalkeeper saved everything he could, but Xherdan Shaqiri's bicycle kick was beyond reality. Thereby the encounter extended to two extra times which did not determine the winner. One missed penalty shot by Switzerland in the penalty shootouts brought The White Eagles a desired ticket to quarter finals.

EURO 2016: Portugal against Poland - odds, previous games, expectations

That day the team of Poland waited for its next rival out of the duo Croatia - Portugal, which was exciting as never. Croatia managed to bean Spain and that winning streak was expected to extend against Portugal, which hardly passed the group phase. However, Portugueses ended up winning in spite of that unconvincing performance during the group stage, and being considered for status "Underdog", Fernando Santos's men not only turned out stronger than Croats, but managed to avoid shoot-outs after regular and extra times by Ricardo Quaresma's goal. Santos must be grateful to his ward for that shot, which brough another encounter and opportunity to reach semi-finals. That match was not full of dangerous attempts for scoring (0 shot on target from both of the sides in the regular time) and, in fact, it is alarming before the game against Poland, which defense line seems to be the solidest at the current Euros.

Since the start of Euro the teams have shown they suffer some issues in attacking and efficiency up front, but looked firmly in midfield and defense.
