AC Milan excluded from next Europa League season over FFP rules

AC Milan has been dismissed from next season's Europa League by the decision of the Financial Fair Play regulations.

According to Football Italia, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) has banned the Italian club from participating in the 2019/18 Europa League edition over breaking the rules of FFP for overspending during 2016-18.

It means that Milan, the fifth-placed team last season in Italy, make way for AS Roma to go directly into the group stages while Torino, who finished seventh behind Milan and Roma in Italy Serie A, will take their place in the second qualifying round.

Last summer, Rossoneri got away with a two-year ban by appealing against being guilty of overspending between 2015 and 2017.
