In the second period, however, Arsenal pulled one back through Nicolas Pepe who converted from the spot to gift his side a lifeline.

Including the glory of actually winning a piece of silverware this term, the Europa League also represents Mikel Arteta side's most probable route of competing in Europe next season. While the young manager will still urge his men to keep their heads up, they would fully aware that there is very little to salvage in this current Premier League campaign.
