Newcastle will be more than glad to kick on with their Premier League after late drama helped them salvage a point at Anfield last weekend. And they would head into another difficult fixture, this time on their turf, with securing survival primarily on their minds.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will make a return to their domestic duties following an unsuccessful Europa League night in Spain in midweek. While their last league match also ended in defeat, it doesn't get any better that they now have themselves on the verge of elimination in Europe.

Newcastle vs Arsenal Team News

An upturn of results has seen Newcastle United steer clear of any immediate danger in the English top flight. Although their race for survival is all but concluded, at least, they now sit in a better and safer position than they were few weeks ago.

Having garnered a total of 36 points from 33 league games, Newcastle United currently sit in 16th-place on the league standings, nine points clear of the drop-zone. And this positive trend isn't unconnected to their somewhat improved form - losing just one of their last eight games in the Premier League.

The Magpies looked destined for a defeat at Anfield, up until Joe Willock proved to be their saviour, yet again, popping up with a goal from the bench for the third game in a row. This goal cancelled out Mohammed Salah's early opener, and punished Liverpool's profligacy in this match.

Meanwhile, Arsenal suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Everton in their last league outing. A goalkeeping error from Bernd Leno gifted the Toffees a goal, and ultimately an invaluable three points.

The Gunners currently languish in 10th-place on the log, having collected a total of 46 points from 33 games. Quite frankly, they have been unimpressive in the league this term, as they sit a massive 12 points adrift the top four, with European qualification looking utterly implausible.

Moreover, Arsenal are merely hanging by a thread in the Europa League following their 2-1 defeat to Villarreal on Thursday. Villarreal - managed by Arsenal's former manager Unai Emery - were already two to the good at halftime courtesy of goals from Manu Trigueros and Raul Albiol. In the second period, however, Arsenal pulled one back through Nicolas Pepe who converted from the spot to gift his side a lifeline.

Including the glory of actually winning a piece of silverware this term, the Europa League also represents Mikel Arteta side's most probable route of competing in Europe next season. While the young manager will still urge his men to keep their heads up, they would fully aware that there is very little to salvage in this current Premier League campaign.

Newcastle vs Arsenal Predictions

Newcastle United have had some troubles with keeping their opponents out from scoring, in fact, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in a Premier League game this year.

And we don't see that changing anytime soon, certainly not in this game. Although we do see Newcastle scoring, at least once, Arsenal are still favorites to come out tops in this fixture.
