With their off-season marred by all sorts of off-the-pitch fracas, Barcelona look like a side in crisis at the moment. After managing to keep hold of their maestro Lionel Messi, Barca can now look forward to the new season as they attempt reclaiming the league title.

The Blaugrana are now sporting a depleted squad and we do not know what to expect from them this season. From their pre-season games, they have looked pretty decent, seeing off Girona 3-1 before lifting the Joan Gamper trophy after a 1-0 victory over Elche.

This weekend’s opposition, Villarreal have begun their season on a strong note. After playing out a one-all draw against Huesca on the opening weekend, the Yellow Submarine went on to secure a hard-fought 2-1 win over Eibar.

Still unbeaten this season, Emery’s men will take their game to Camp Nou this Sunday as they look to extend their unbeaten run to three on the bounce. Surely, they have what it takes to make this a reality.
