Hellas Verona can look back at their season so far and be pleased with how far they have come. Billed as potential relegation battlers, I Gialloblu have surpassed expectations and are comfortably placed 12^th on the league table with 22 points from 17 games. They are also 8 points clear of the drop zone.

Genoa are in serious trouble and are in real danger of getting relegated this season. All their preseason aspirations and expectations have long since become a thing of the past and their focus now, is solely on surviving the drop this season. They are currently 19^th on the log, two points above bottom placed SPAL and one point away from safety. Il Grifone really need to get their act together for the second half of the season if at all they are interested in staying up.

Verona recorded a 2-0 victory over Serie A whipping boys, SPAL, in their last run-out. This ended a run of four games without a win and was only their second win in six league matches.

Much of Verona’s success this term can be attributed to their defensive organization. Ivan Juric’s side have conceded just 20 goals this term, the fourth best record in the league.

Nicola will hope to build on victory against Sassuolo and steer Genoa to safety.
