Here's our Chelsea vs Ajax Prediction analysis: Chelsea vs Ajax PredictionChelsea v Ajax Prediction and Preview for Tuesday's group fixture in the Champions League. This is a match-up of two teams in very fine form as the relentless Blues go up against the spectacular Dutch in what is billed to be a crunch Group H encounter. A win for either side will propel them to the top of the table with both sides currently tied on points.
Match status: 2019-20 Champions League Group Stages
Kick-off:
Venue: Stamford Bridge (London)
Frank Lampard’s protégés have stormed the Premier League by surprise and are currently unbeaten in 8 of their last 9 matches in all competitions. Despite starting their Champions League campaign with a loss to Valencia in what many thought would underline their season, Chelsea have bounced back and are impressive domestically and in the Champions League.

Coach Lampard has little to worry in attack with his side scoring over two goals in 6 out of 9 previous fixtures but has efforts focused on their defence which has only kept 3 clean sheets in the same period.

The Chelsea youngsters are definitely work in progress and their inexperience has sometimes shown. A loss of concentration and sloppiness in the final minutes of the game have seen them concede four goals after the 70th minute in their three previous competitive matches. Such moments, when players have to dig in their resolve, is what separates the winners from losers. The Blues will have to be fully alert going forward against an Ajax side that has been scoring for fun lately.

Ajax, like their match-day opponents, lost some key players in the summer but that has not blown the wind out of their sails. The defending Eredivisie champions are having a sensational domestic season and a decent Champions League run tied on points with log leaders Chelsea.

Erik ten Haag’s charges are on a roll and having overcome Lille and Valencia 3-0 they are not going to be easy pickings at Stamford Bridge. The Dutch champions definitely have their sights set on bettering last season’s semi-final exit in the same competition.

Lethal on the counter-attack and with Chelsea’s defensive frailties out in the open, Ajax believe they can cause anxiety at the Blues backline and hopefully return with a result. In addition, Ajax are a tough team to beat on the road and are currently on a 13 game unbeaten run on their Champions League travels.

Chelsea v Ajax Team News

Andreas Christensen and Ross Barkley are likely to start on the bench too. Other players set to sit this one out include R. Loftus-Cheeck (Achilles tendon injury), A. Rudiger (pelvis injury) and van Ginkel (knee injury).

Ajax have no confirmed injuries but E. Alvares, L. Martinez and van de Beek are doubtful.
