Arsenal vs Leicester City Match Predictions & Match Preview 11/08/2017
Former champions Leicester City, currently led by Craig Shakespeare, are keen to recover from an underwhelming last season after being threatened to drop down but forced their way back up mid-table to finish twelveth, as Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is on the edge of his arguably critical season at the club after missing out on Champions League football in the next campaign.
Match status: 2017/18 FA Premier League - Matchweek 1
Kick-off:
Venue: "Emirates Stadium" in London, England
Arsenal failed to secure a Champions League place having finished in fifth and out of the top four for the first time under Wenger's reign after a campaign which saw the Gunners manager attract criticism much of the season but consoled everybody unhappy with his work by delivering an FA trophy in the cup's final win against Chelsea.

Moreover, to add to their FA Cup-winning feat, the North London club went on to win a Community Shield in a shootout 4-1 win over the Blues following a 1-1 regular time tie with a week out from the new PL season coming up. What only concerned in that match was that Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil fell out of the matchday squad at Wembley.

The London club has brought in Schalke full-back Sead Kolasinac, who is expected to add muscle at left-back, while the arrival of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette is believed to ensure more goals for the side.

Being at risk of going back down to the second tier just a year after winning a glory last time out, one-time Premier League champions Leicester were salvaged with the fresh mind of Claudio Ranieri's replacement Craig Shakespeare, who made a sensational managerial debut for Foxes to steer the club out of danger at domestic level and reach the Champions League quarter-finals where they respectfully bowed out against Atletico Madrid.

This season should prove the Englishman's talented coaching skills as to the difference of full command or temporary charge he took over from the sacked Claudio Ranieri. And shortly before the outset of the season, Iheanacho has become the fourth acquisition to Shakespeare's selection for the new campaign - goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic and defender Harry Maguire both joined from Hull City while the highly regarded signing of Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra is who Foxes need in terms of solidifying the heart of the side.

Leicester title winners Danny Drinkwater and Riyad Mahrez have reportedly been linked with a move away from the King Power but both, however, are expected to feature in the opener on Friday night, 11 August. The other issue as for the Foxes matchday squad is the absence of central defender Rober Huth, believed to be back in six to eight weeks after ankle surgery, which paves the way for new signing Harry Maguire to make a competitive debut straight from the starting XI.

The Gunners have lost on the opening day in three of the last four seasons and won their opening Premier League fixture once in the last seven years. Given that they will kick it off at the Emirates and against a side predicted to be competing somewhere near mid-table, the Arsenal manager must have his team getting off to a good start - but I think they win by a late winner to break a deadlock.

Update: Arsene Wenger has confirmed Alexis Sanchez will miss the opening match against Leicester as he sustained an abdominal strain in training before the Community Shield win on Sunday and is expected to be out for Stoke City game a week later.
